Goal

The goal of this grant is to purchase raised bed materials for the DeLand High School Agriculture Program.

What will be done with my students

Students will learn how to create Raised Garden Beds, as well as get a unique opportunity to incorporate real-world hands-on learning by growing fresh fruits and vegetables in the raised beds.

03.01 Describe the environmental resources (soil, water, air) necessary for agricultural production.

04.05 Investigate and compare methods of plant reproduction.

04.06 Identify nutrient requirements for optimal plant growth, their functions within plants and nutrient sources.

04.07 Manage plant production facilities, equipment and supplies with a safety mindset.

Benefits to my students

These raised garden beds will give the DeLand High School Agriculture students hands on learning activities and the ability to get out of the classroom setting and outside into a garden setting. These raised beds will also teach our students about growing and harvesting fresh fruits and vegetables.

Budget Narrative

Of the budgeted 990.00 dollars, 500 Dollars will go to purchasing 10 Raised Garden Bed Metal Elevated Planters at the cost of 50.00 dollars a piece. 300 dollars will go to purchase 30 bags of Miracle-Gro Flower and Vegetable raised garden mix at the cost of 10 dollars per bag. 150 dollars will go towards the purchase of mini hand trowels we will purchase 10 mini trowel 5 packs at the cost of 15 dollars a pack. 40 dollars will be used to purchase 2 Craftsman 55-inch digging shovels at the price of 20 dollars each.
