Goal

The goal of this grant is to create a multifunctional classroom carpet that provides my students with both a physical space but also an intellectual space to feel comfortable, connected, and inspired to learn. This is my first year teaching First grade at Deltona Lakes Elementary. My classroom space is welcoming and truly a place for students to feel comfortable and safe. This grant will be the last classroom furniture piece for my classroom space to be complete.

What will be done with my students

Students will use the carpet space in our classroom to gather and learn together. Each student will have a colorful "square" on the carpet that they can call their own. This will help with transitions, and ensure students still have the personal space to feel comfortable when working on group activities. This will encourage classroom organization and structure, helping students to feel safe and secure in their own space.

- Space for Collaboration and fostered classroom community
-Promote creative thinking and imagination
-Provide a sensory-friendly space for students to relax and focus on the learning target
-I am able to quickly monitor and provide student support. This will increase standards mastery and help to quickly eliminate misconceptions.
