Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 22

This grant allowed me to create stations that had my students engaged in practicing skills daily. Having new centers for each month, the students were always excited to learn the new "games'. My student's scores on STAR assessments grew showing a years worth of growth with many surpassing that goal because they were actively practicing skills throughout the year.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

I hope to increase my students literacy and mathematics understanding by providing independent stations to practice skills in a fun, game-like format.

What will be done with my students

Using the materials provided by this grant, I plan to provide quality standard-based game activities to my students. The games are seasonally themed to maintain interest throughout the whole school year.

Each day students will be assigned time to work independently at the 'game station' as part of our literacy rotations during guided reading and also during math interventions as a supplemental learning activity. This will allow for each student to have interaction with the materials.

Time spent at the station varies depending on the activity and the students ability. Time guidelines are minimum 5 minutes to 20 minutes daily.

Each month, 10 new literacy and 10 new math station/center game options will be created to provide students with engaging, fun, and meaningful activities for reviewing standards and practicing skills taught in my classroom.

Benefits to my students

Each standards based activity comes with an exit sheet (if applicable) that can be used to assess learning in each station/center. The exit ticket also ensures students are engaged and interacting with the activities.
Students must demonstrate understanding of the concept by the end of the month. Records will be kept to show fidelity of the project.
