Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 225

Thank you so much for funding this grant! We were able to purchase two iPads to use in the PE department at Freeport High School! We are not only able to use apps to supplement our physical fitness activities but we also are able to use them in our HOPE health classes. The students really enjoy having these additional resources being implemented in PE!

Thank you so much,

Katie Jones

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To secure digital tools to supplement physical and health education instruction for students.

What will be done with my students

Specifically tablets will be used to:

Provide digital stations for PE instruction(i.e. instructional aerobic/conditioning videos)
Record and upload PE instruction and athletic clips (FHSAA)
PE related applications ( i.e. stopwatch, scoring)
HOPE (Health) related applications (i.e. fitness trackers, healthy eating trackers, heart rate, hydration tracker)
Differentiation and accommodations for ELL and ESE students
Checking attendance outdoors or in gym

Benefits to my students

PE is by nature both active and mobile. However, PE instructors often lack tools that would enable them to deliver and differentiate instruction for students. Tablets would allow instructors to provide students with digital tools to supplement aerobic and conditioning activities as well as provide a digital tool for health education. Numerous applications, tutorials, and videos exist to provide students with more unique PE/HOPE experiences. Tablets would also allow instructors a digital tool to perform required school and district specific tasks such as attendance. Current methods lead to inaccuracies. Tablets would also enable instructors to provide accommodations and differentiation to ELL and ESE student sub-groups.
