Original Grant Overview

Goal

To allow Biology students to reach their potential through interactive tutorials and virtual dissections via the eMind Software Suite.

What will be done with my students

The eMind Software Suite will impact every Biology student in the school (this year there are over 200). It is an interactive software package that provides engaging, web-based software that can be accessed on all types of devices. It offers tutorials for all topics tested on the Biology End-of-Course Exam, virtual dissections that allow the student to further enhance his/her learning, and even a digital microscope with 24 of the most commonly used slides in biology. This technology will be used in the classroom, but also to extend the classroom into the students' homes.

Specifically, the eMind Software it will be used in the following ways:
1. Tutorials will be used to enhance each unit throughout the year to prepare for the Biology EOC.
2. Virtual dissections that allow the students to extend their knowledge of body systems.
3. The digital microscope and slides of 5 animal kingdoms will be used to expand the students experience when learning about the kingdoms of life.

Truly, The opportunities for engaging in content with this software are endless!

Benefits to my students

In the Spring of 2019, 31% of biology students were not able to pass the Biology EOC. With this interactive software, students will have another tool in their arsenal when it comes to preparing for the Biology EOC. The interactive platform appeals to multiple learning styles and, because it can be accessed from any type of device, all a student needs is internet to extend their learning outside the classroom and pass the Biology EOC!
