Goal
I will track academic growth and to show efficacy in the digital programs. Students will show an increase of 20% from pre program to post program.
I will utilize flexible seating and sensory tools to show an increase in on-task behavior.
What will be done with my students
My goal is to provide students with opportunities to meet all of their personal abilities and help them grow at their pace. I have programs available that require technology. Currently I have 22 students and 4 computers. I would love to provide my children with an opportunity to research things that interest them while designing a program that meets their ability and level. In fact, it is a state standard:
"Students will use technology to produce and publish my writing,using keyboarding skills to type a minimum of two pages in a single sitting. Students will use technology to collaborate and share ideas with others. LAFS.5.W.2.6" It is hard to do your job when resources are limited. I would love to add a few computer sources to allow students to master this Florida standard.
At the same time, I would love to add to my flexible seating. Students will be provided opportunity to find what seat and what location is best for their body. I will be using social emotional learning to teach students how to self regulate what their body needs. Not all of us learning best sitting stationary in a desk. Children can learn better when they have the ability to move. They can also focus better when their hands have something to do. I would love to use the sensory tools for students to allow them to stay on task.
Benefits to my students
My students will become more self aware and take ownership in their learning. Digitally they will be able to track their progress and set personal goals. They will be able to extend their learning with access to multiple resources and research based programs. Students will also learn accountability. They will be accountable for their actions and goals. They will learn what their body needs. Some students may need some sensory input. Students will learn to become self regulated and self motivated in their academic journey! Why wouldn't we want to help these students achieve this? They are our future!
