Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 12

Through the fulfillment of this grant, we were able to begin the 2020-2021 school year with freshly printed and laminated "Big Books" for student use during morning arrival.  (As mentioned preivously, our re-usable books from last year were delivered to student homes during COVID shutdown and several parents asked to keep them.)

We appreciate your generosity and support!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

We hope to replace supplies used to meet this year's distance learning needs, so future in-classroom needs can be met.

What will be done with my students

In anticipation of possible school closure due to COVID-19, my Aide and I spent "original" Spring Break creating "Big Books of Pre-K Knowledge", comprised of reusable, hands-on Math, ELA, Science and Art activities to be done at home. These and other classroom supplies were delivered to each student's porch, knowing our incredibly diverse group of students had varying availability of supplies, tech devices, Wifi access etc.

We initially planned to collect these books when school resumed, however many families have since asked to keep them for summer use, especially since we'll not be returning to classrooms this school year. Of course, we'll happily oblige, however we'll need to re-create some items for future classroom use. Having the supplies to replace them would be incredibly helpful and appreciated!

Benefits to my students

These books provided self-directed activities for our students without internet access and provided relief to our families with older siblings whose tech device use took priority. Positive feedback from parents also includes appreciation of activities our students can work independently, allowing their time to be devoted to other pressing matters.

Budget Narrative

This request includes a replacement cartridge for my home printer and laminator sheets used to make traditional printed worksheets reusable.
