Initial assessments identified 2/3 of my students as "Below Standard" in Mathematics, so it's time to BEEF UP our Math Center and BEEF UP those scores! While many struggle with simply counting to 3, a handful can reach 30 and above, so I've been on the lookout for fun, hands-on math resources that allow simple differentiation among students/work groups, keeping all interested and challenged.

Goal

Initial assessments identified 2/3 of my students as "Below Standard" in Mathematics, so it's time to BEEF UP our Math Center and BEEF UP those scores! While many struggle with simply counting to 3, a handful can reach 30 and above, so I've been on the lookout for fun, hands-on math resources that allow simple differentiation among students/work groups, keeping all interested and challenged.

What will be done with my students

These materials will be implemented at our "Teacher Table" for guided instruction four times a week and will ultimately be available during "Free Choice Time" for individual or small group challenges. These products have been selected because they align with Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards and can be applied to both core and supplemental instruction throughout the school year.

Benefits to my students

Acquiring the items on my "wish list" will greatly benefit my current class of 12. I fully expect the outcome of 100% of my full-year students "meeting expectations" in Mathematics by year end. Because I readily share materials with other teachers in our school, the purchase of these materials could impact as many as 100 students this year. I have carefully selected timeless, core resources, so it is impossible to predict the total number of students the fulfillment of this grant could ultimately impact throughout the years!

Budget Narrative

Through this grant, I am requesting essential, age-appropriate materials for teaching and supplementing our math curriculum. Topics of study include shapes, patterning, counting, measurement, comparing numbers, making ten, simple addition, simple subtraction and beyond. Specific hands-on resources include game libraries, instant learning centers, math activity tins, counting manipulatives, balance scale, counting maze and a teaching clock.
