Goal

The goal is to give more students the opportunity to experience a variety of learning platforms. Specifically, through technology, as that is one the ways they will be tested throughout their academic careers.

What will be done with my students

I plan to use the laptop in many ways including individualized and differentiated learning centers. The laptop will be utilized during both the ELA and Math blocks, as well as the Tier 2 block. Students can access different learning programs including Compass Learning, Headsprout, Imagine Learning, Pierson, ReadyGen, Zearn and Epic to help improve academic knowledge, as well as gaining skills in appropriately using technology. This can help my students with engagement through innovative learning. With an additional laptop, I will be able to reinforce content during Tier 2 time for students that need additional practice, but do not qualify for Tier 2, because of our large numbers. This will also provide extra practice and motivation for students who may not receive the support they need at home.

Benefits to my students

It will allow me to have 1 more student actively engaged in learning through literacy programs, while I lead small group reading and math. This will add additional support on reading skills and comprehension when they are not actively involved in a small group. It will also help to boost struggling students during small group math, while also offering additional enrichment to higher achievers. Students will be able to work independently while I am engaged with small groups. The laptop will also be beneficial by providing exposure to technology which will prepare them for future online testing, as well as future careers.
