Goal

My goal is to have my students performing at or above grade level by the end of the year. I currently have 7% performing below grade level and the access to the extra technology will help me reach this group, while also enriching my other students.

What will be done with my students

My students will use this technology to access learning apps during small group time. They will also use these apps to help them complete projects in both Language Arts and Social Studies. Students will also be able to use these tablets during whole group instruction to participate in fun and engaging activities.

Benefits to my students

I currently only have 5 iPads and 4 laptops. This hinders my students when trying to complete projects or access learning apps during small group time. Students will be able to use them to also take quizzes and assessments for their reading ability (Accelerated Reader).

Our district uses Compass Learning, which is a system that reteaches and enriches standards based learning. This program correlates to their STAR reading scores that we take four times a year. This helps those that are struggling to be retaught certain lessons, as well as challenging those who are at or above grade level.

They will also be used during whole group time to keep learning fun and engaging, while reviewing material before an assessment using apps like Kahoot. Kahoot is an online interactive quiz game where kids get to answer questions on their iPads to test their knowledge on material previously covered in class.

Students will be able to travel to places they have never been during Social Studies by doing research projects on these tablets. They will also get exposed to different cultures by watching videos and seeing pictures of places and people all over the world using a website called Safari Montage. They will also be able to use this website to travel to Washington D.C. when we learn all about the branches of government in the Spring.

I am always trying to find fun and engaging activities to use in my classroom to keep my students interested while actively learning. The extra access to technology will help me keep learning fun and engaging while also tying in technology at the same time.
