Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Gulf Power - $999.75
The goal of "E"asing into R"e"ading is to increase the number of fiction and nonfiction interactive electronic books available to our entire student population. These 50 ebooks will be added to our school’s library media database collection for use by all students and teachers.
To promote the new ebooks, I will spotlight the books on our school’s daily morning show and social media site. Book displays and posters will be created to showcase the ebooks. Teachers will also be made aware of the new ebooks through email. Book usage will be tracked through usage reports from the book vendor. These ebooks will be available for 801 students and 55 teachers to view. By May 2022, these books will be viewed 200 times.
Electronic books are very convenient and easy to access. They can be accessed on any device capable of accessing the internet. The ebooks are available all day every day from school or home. Should students have to go to virtual learning in the future having a large collection of ebooks will provide students with a great selection of books to read while at home. Having access to ebooks will provide students with another opportunity to complete reading assignments. Ebooks are a great investment because they never get lost, damaged or worn out from use. These ebooks will be available for many years to come. In addition, these ebooks will also be available for summer reading when school is not in session. The high interest books chosen for this grant include World War II, military equipment inspired by animals, courageous kids, inventors, movers and shakers in history and entertainment, mystical creatures, science fiction technology, historical fiction, graphic novels and future technology.
The School Improvement Team and school administration created a schoolwide reading challenge in order to support our School Improvement Literacy Goal #1. To promote literacy all students have a reading requirement in their language arts classes. The reading requirement helps students to achieve the schoolwide reading challenge of reading 10 fiction books, 10 nonfiction books and 5 books of their choice. The reward for completing the schoolwide reading challenge is a trip to Dave and Busters. This grant will provide students access to high interest ebooks while at school or at home.
