Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 19

Thank you so much for investing into my classroom! With the funding of the grant, we now have enough ipads for each student in our class to have their own to use in a whole group setting. Our technology assistant recently introduced our class to Blooket which is a website that encourages students to practice the skills they have learned throughout the school year through trivia questions and competition games. Students choose the correct answers and the race/competition results are displayed on our large ClearTouch Screen so they can compete against their classmates while developing fluency in many academic areas. The game modes and skills can be changed and customized keeping the games new, fun and exciting. Now that each student has their own iPad, they can all be engaged at the same time. I am so appreciative of your gift and will be able to use the ipads for many more activities again next school year and many years to come.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My goal is to have 1 to 1 iPads for my students. To reach this goal, I currently need 2 more iPads and will need to replace 1 additional iPad that is broken and outdated in the near future. If funded, this grant will meet the immediate need to get enough iPads & cases for all of my students to have their own.

What will be done with my students

I am requesting funds to purchase 2 iPad minis with child-friendly, protective cases. The iPads will be used for many years to help my students practice math, reading, and writing skills, play educational games, conduct simple research projects, listen to & read eBooks, create their own digital books, document their learning along with many more projects and activities. I will also be able to incorporate the iPads with my Interactive Whiteboard by sending students an electronic "card" on which they record their answers and send it back to me to display & compare their answers as a whole group.

Benefits to my students

The use of iPads in the classroom is a sure way to get the students excited and engaged in their learning. Many of the apps and programs that the school district provides will differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of each individual learner based on his/her particular academic needs. These same programs will also provide students with immediate feedback & will promote higher order thinking & problem solving skills in students which is a vital skill for young learners in the 21st century.
