The goal for P.E. is to provide students with an opportunity to meet the Florida Standard of participating in physical activity. by providing more equipment for student use this will help students maintain a health enhancing level of fitness. The goal is once a month to teach a fundamental and have students practice and utilize the fundamental during the time they come to P.E.
Students will be able to recognize a vigorous and moderate physical activity. More equipment will mean students have more opportunities for involvement in physical activities throughout the school day. Students will be given opportunities to play with basketballs and soccer balls and learn the fundamentals like dribbling, passing, how to shoot the ball or make a goal and the components that make up a team. Students will be given time to learn how to use a jump rope properly and that it is used for cardio exercise to increase heart rate. Students will be provided a game that is used with the use of scooter board. This tag game can be differentiated in many ways so that all students can play at one time. The game is used to help students become aware of their surroundings and for rule following procedures.
Having extra equipment will be very beneficial to students so that more students have the opportunity to play and to interact during P.E. Students are provided quality equipment to help them learn the fundamentals of sports and games, to increase exercise and to keep students engaged during the 50 minute block for P.E.
Line 1- Balls to provide opportunities for students to play with quality equipment to learn fundamentals.
Line 2- Requesting for 75 jump ropes so that each individual can jump with a jump rope to provide cardio exercise.
Line 3- Requesting for 3 sets of hula hoops to use with various games and to provide as a station during indoor play.
Line 4- Scooter boards- requesting 3 sets of 6. Students do not currently have enough working scooter boards to be able to play games. The scooter boards are great for adding a different technique to a game of tag to provide that moderate level of activity of exercise.
Line 5- 9 sets of 6 softball game activity. This is requested for students to be able to practice the fundamentals of hitting the ball off the tee, how to properly hold a bat and how to swing. This is very beneficial or students in grades pre-k through grade 2 as they have a hard time learning this concept.
