Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 0

My fulfilled grant for the 2021-2022 school year was originally written for the goal to drive instruction, using technology as a tool for mastery of second grade standards while enhancing the learning process within the classroom setting.

After the grant was awarded, the original order inluded three laptops to replace old, outdated desktops in the classroom. Due to a national inflation issue the laptops exceeded the grant award and were priced significantly higher than the original listed price at the time which the grant was written. The order was changed to include three ipads along with cases to achieve stated goal and outcomes. Due to the current inventory shortage along with shipping delays the ordered ipads did not ship until the end of the school year.

The stated circumstances are unfortunate yet understandable during this time. These are common issues throughout our country for most of us. I am returning to the same classroom, same grade level at Van R Butler this fall for the 2022-2023 school year and will use the purchased technology to target the same goal of a tool for mastery of second grade standards while enhancing the learning process within the classroom setting.

I am so very thankful for the coninued support and funding to promote student growth in Walton County!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To drive instruction utilizing technology as a tool for mastery of second grade standards while enhancing the learning process within the classroom setting.

What will be done with my students

New laptops will replace 2 or 3 outdated desktops (10+ years old) used daily by students in small group and/or independent settings. The laptops will serve as a tool to access district approved technology applications. The devices will target individualized academic needs with advanced technology. Students will have the ability to access district purchased or approved programs such as My Path (Reading and Math), Zearn, Renaissance Place, Pebble Go, EPIC!, and many more to foster individual learning gains.
Our class will greatly benefit from updated, advanced technology in the classroom. We will also be able to access teacher designated, standard based assignments to promote individual growth for each student.

Benefits to my students

The requested technology will allow students better access to updated and advanced technology throughout the day for all subject areas of instruction with an emphasis on literacy.
Because of the individualized nature of the district purchased or approved programs such as My Path, Renaissance Place (Accelerated Reader assessments for reading comprehension) research based learning projects, etc., all students will benefit from increased access to upgraded technology. My ultimate goal is to reach a 1:1 student/portable technology ratio.
