Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 950

I watched our students flourish this year with access to new books!  Their excitement led to more checkouts, which led to more AR tests passed.  I'm so grateful to give them this opportunity with your help.  I couldn't keep the new titles on the shelves.  Reluctant readers were drawn in and hooked!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My goal is to replace old books, damaged books, and lost books with durable, hardcover books.

What will be done with my students

I am going to replace some of our most-read, well-loved and most frequently checked out books with new hardcover books that will last longer. They say to look for the books that are falling apart, because those are the stories that are most cherished. Well, I have an abundance of cherished books that are faded, coming apart, or worn to the poing of missing covers. I want my kids to have hardcover replacements that will last longer. There's nothing like a fresh book! These books will remain in our school permanently for years to come so future students can also enjoy them.

Benefits to my students

I hope all 950 students will utilize these new books! New books never fail to produce next level excitement. I expect circulations to increase, comprehension skills to improve, and most importantly, a love for reading to bloom. I will be able to track these expected outcomes by running end of year circulation reports.

Budget Narrative

I have chosen 69 old, damaged or lost books to replace that will not exceed $1,000.

The books titles are:
Diary of a Pug Set
Charlie and the Christmas Kitty
Double Down
Dragonet Prophecy
Guinea Pigs
I Survived Set
Into the Wild
Matilda
Smurfs Set
Stick and Stone
Titanic DK Eyewitness
Who Was Set
Wings of Fire
