Goal

The goal for this grant is for my 4-year-old students to learn how to express their feelings through musical activities.  

What will be done with my students

Up to 18 students, 1 teacher, and 1 paraprofessional will be impacted by this grant. Students will learn how to handle and play age-appropriate instruments properly. Students will be taught by the teacher and para, as well as by videos, on how to handle, play, and care for the instruments. They will be introduced to how rhythm in music can express how a person feels. The classroom teacher and para will be responsible for the activities and the instruments' care. The students will practice using the instruments at least 3 times a week. This activity will take place in the classroom.

 

Benefits to my students

The projected outcome is that students will be able to use music to express how they feel. Students will learn how to properly handle drums, rhythm sticks, egg shakers, and various other musical instruments. At the end of the school year, students will be evaluated by showing how to use rhythm sticks properly, how to use drums properly, and how to use other musical instruments. They will also decide if a piece of music is happy or sad.
