Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
The Alys Foundation - $931.49
During the day everyone needs an area in which they can go to quiet their minds. Pre-K students with disabilities are no different. Like many students they need to be taught to learn to recognize and regulate their emotions.
With this grant I will use the couch and bean bag to create a comfortable place where students can go and sit quietly when they feel the need. We will also use calming materials to help them regulate their emotions. I will be using the emotion dolls, puzzles, and activities to help teach the students about their emotions and how to regulate them when needed. They will learn how to recognize when they need to take a break and when to sit quietly. They will also be able to identify when they have regulated their emotions enough to rejoin their classmates.
The use of these social emotional materials will benefit my students both in their academics and social emotional skills as well. These skills will continue to benefit them in their lives as they grow. I will be using a spreadsheet to track the frequency of emotional outbursts before and after the introduction of the emotional support materials. My goal is to decrease emotional outburst by 80%. I currently have 6 students, however, I will have new students coming into my classroom throughout the year. These materials can be used for many years to come.
The cost for the activities for teaching emotions is $311.48. The furniture cost is $498.50. The shipping cost is $121.51. The total cost including shipping would come to $931.49. The items will be purchased form Lakeshore Learning.
