My students have loved having all the different instruments to play. Each child has their favorite one. Because of this grant, I was able to purchase multiple of each instruments so all my students can play along to music.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal for this grant is for my students to experience the benefits of music and learn to love it at an early age.

What will be done with my students

Up to 19 students will be impacted by this grant. Student will learn to express and represent their thoughts, observations, imagination, feelings, experiences and knowledge in individual and group music activities. In addition, these instruments will help my students reach developmental goals in music. For example; discuss their favorite instrument and why they like it and learn the differences in sounds of a variety of instruments.

Benefits to my students

Studies have shown that music has the ability to stimulate parts of the brain related to math, reading and emotional development. Experts say that children who are exposed to music at an early age are more likely to make higher achievements in academics. By allowing children to participate in music at an early age music can help in the improvement of memory and learning ability. This is because playing an instrument helps in the stimulation of the different patterns of brain development.
