To show student how with only a small plot of land or backyard they can help feed their family as well as help them financially
My students will plan the layout, build the infrastructure as well as grow and raise the food for selling or consumption. They will use skills learned in Agriculture class to transform a raw plot of land appoximatly 50ft x 50ft into a functioning mini farm to demonstrate how they can do the same at home and benefit their families. To include raised beds for vegetables, small animal pens for meat, and poultry runs for meat and eggs. .
The benefits will include hands on use of tools that can be used in later employment. They will see concepts of mathematics come alive in the construction. They will gain confidence in their ability to produce food for themselves and families. Possibly even leading to small buisness oppurtunities to fund further education.
Item 1 will be fencing around plot
Item 2 will be post and gates for fencing
Item 3 will be used as sideboard for raised beds
item 4 will be used as part of raised bed structure as well to
build pens
Item 5 will be wire for rabbit and chicken pens
item 6 will be used to fasten all wood projects together
Item 7 will be used as structuer for chicken run.
