Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal of Bringing Back the Literary Classics is to provide new copies of classic chapter books for our library so students can be enjoy reading classic novels while improving their reading skills.

What will be done with my students

These books will be available in the library for students to check out and read in order to share challenging and rich literature from our district approved book list with students. Students can read alone, with partners, and with the whole group and then discuss elements of literature and vocabulary found within the books. These books are greatly needed to enhance our school library.

Benefits to my students

Studies show that reading 20 minutes or more daily positively impacts a child's success at school in all subject areas. We want to teach students to love reading while helping them improve critical thinking, comprehension, and vocabulary skills through great literature. If we receive this grant we will purchase new copies of classic novels that will increase student achievement through classroom reading.

Budget Narrative

The grant funds will be used to purchase 12 sets of classic novels to add to our school library. The total cost of this project is $1431.62.
