Impact to My Classroom

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom by funding this grant. My students have loved having all the books in our classroom. My students began the year reading small books from the library. With this grant, my students had input on the books they would like to have available to read. The books they asked for were ALL chapter books. For this age group this is huge. My students have read more books this 2nd semester compared to the 1st semester before the books came in. One students said he no longer needed to go to the library because he wanted to read all the chapter books in our room. They are loving these books and I am loving seeing them read so much!

Goal

My goal is to increase my students' reading level from 34% proficient in reading to 75% proficient based on the FAST data.

What will be done with my students

My students will use these books to partner read with a friend or to themselves. Students will have access to them to enjoy with their families also.

Benefits to my students

My students will be able to check out books from our classroom library to read at school or take home to read. I have asked my students what books they would like in our room and they gave me a list. The books that I have included in this grant are books that are on the Florida approved list to be in classrooms. Since the new mandate of approval for books most classrooms have very little books in the classroom. Our students need quick access to books they are interested in reading. This grant will provide my students with that.
