Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 36

My grant can provide individualized instruction in a small setting and this will increase student engagement. This will allow me to provide individualized feedback on progress toward reading goals. Finally, this will increase student confidence for students who often have little or no success in the whole group setting.    This was all possible through this grant.  Because of this grant, 95% of my low performing students are now reading grade level material based on the FAST ELA PM 2 Assessment.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

90% of my low performing students will read grade level material.

What will be done with my students

I will work daily in small group (6 or fewer students) on decoding strategies to decrease their learning gap in reading.

Benefits to my students

There are four main benefits of teaching in a small group setting. First, I can provide individualized instruction in a small setting. Next, this will increase student engagement. This will allow me to provide individualized feedback on progress toward reading goals. Finally, this will increase student confidence for students who often have little or no success in the whole group setting.

Budget Narrative

With these materials, I truly believe I will be able to reach my lowest performing students are help them increase their reading to on-grade level. I will use the stools in increase student engagement and motivation to work in small group and help them to get their physical energy out of their bodies. I will use the chair pockets to help students organize their materials and take ownership over their learning. The white boards and notebooks will be the places students will record their learning. They will also increase engagement with a new medium to write on. The other materials will be used to organize all the curriculum pieces so that no time will be wasted and all the small group alloted time will be used for learning.
