Original Grant Overview
Goal
Our goal is to have every student in our classes reading on grade level. We believe in our students and know that with their hard work and dedication that this can happen. We are looking for every possible advantage, including the Word Work Magnetic Boards and Tiles.
What will be done with my students
Our county has adopted UFLI Foundations for English Language Arts. Word Work is utilized in UFLI and is done in whole group instruction as well as small group instruction. Word Work involves manipulating letter tiles for reading. Using manipulatives increases the attention span and student engagement, especially for early elementary students learning to read.
Benefits to my students
The benefits for the students will include learning to read words, learning to spell words, and learning to communicate through manipulation of magnetic letter tiles. These tiles will be beneficial for two classes for a total of 36 students and two teachers. Six sets will be required. The total price is $599.94 which includes shipping.
