Florida Power & Light - $800.00
To enhance Stem/Steam education at ECMS through the purchase of wildlife cameras to be used in and around the ECMS grounds.
Electronics - Personal computers/tablets/iPads, headphones, charging cables, computer mice, etc.
Students will be able to study and enjoy the round-the-clock habits of area wildlife. ECMS students will chart daytime and night time feeding, sleeping, and overall activities of deer, bears, beavers, birds, and other wildlife in and around the ECMS Campus.
1) Students can use trail cameras to analyze images of wildlife in their natural habitats.
2) Cameras make a great tool for bringing real-world applications into the science classroom.
3) Students can collect valuable data on mammals for science, conservation, and community engagement
4) They can record field data and display their photos on an online map.
5) Camera traps can help researchers understand the state of biodiversity in an area.
Our plan is to put four cameras around our school footprint. Budgeted are four cameras with solar capability, batteries, and SIM cards for storage.
The videos/shots will be used for STEAM lessons year-round in grades 6-8.
