The St. Joe Community Foundation - $993.82
Students entering the educational setting are desperate to learn how to interact socially and emotionally. My goal is to provide manipulatives to enhance social and emotional lessons with students in Kindergarten through 4th grade.
School supplies - Markers, paints, paper, crayons, clay, pencils, sharpies, modeling dough, etc.
As the school counselor, I have been approached by our Exceptional Student Education department and challenged with the task of creating activities and providing the necessary supplies to help teach social and emotional skills to our young learners. During these learning sessions, students will be provided not only one on one instruction, but small group instruction. As the counselor, I am currently hosting groups for all grade levels, called lunch bunch. We are meeting bi-weekly and discussing various character traits to help manage schoolwide behavior. Materials are an essential aspect of these groups.
Students learn about a variety of character traits, such as respect, honesty, compassion, friendship, and perseverance, to name a few. With having the visual tools to accompany lessons, students will be able to kinesthetically learn about the topic. This ability is important to all young learners.
