The goal is to get the calculators needed for both my Geometry and Algebra 2 courses. I would like class sets so that students are not made to get their own! Calculators cost money, and I want my students to focus only on what they need to learn!

Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 60

Students in all of my classes no longer have to worry about buying calculators, or worry about accidentally leaving them at home.  They now know that they have a classroom set that they are able to use at their disposal.  My Geometry students are greatly benefiting from this at the moment, we are using them for trigonometry.  My Statistics class is also able to use these to preform simple statistics tests.  This has been a huge burden lifted off of my shoulders.  I am now able to make sure all students are using calculators when needed, and learning how to use them appropriately.  This is essential especially for Geometry because it is an EOC Course!  Thank you so much from Marco Island Academy!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal is to get the calculators needed for both my Geometry and Algebra 2 courses. I would like class sets so that students are not made to get their own! Calculators cost money, and I want my students to focus only on what they need to learn!

What will be done with my students

These calculators are needed for the Geometry EOC course, and Algebra 2 course. These will be integrated into everyday learning. Have you ever tried to solve a trigonometric function without a calculator? Or find the zeros of a large polynomial function without a calculator? Yes, it is extremely hard! Not only is the concept hard, but a calculator is needed in these areas!

Benefits to my students

Students will be well accustomed to using the calculators, especially my Geometry students who NEED it for their exam! My Algebra 2 students will use this daily to do hard problems, just imagine using imaginary numbers! This will alleviate the stress of buying one and let them relax and learn in my class!
