Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 110

After recieving the pens, students were so excited to be able to hand them out a their events. AICE Travel and Tourism students need to host an event in the community as part of their final project and we had a Hometown Tourism Expo at school to promote the events. Students signed up to participate and they were well attended. Students were given pens to hand out to businesses that helped them put on the event. As a class, we visited the Coconut Point Hyatt and handed out some of our Travel and Tourism pens to the General manager for his staff as a token of appreication for allowing us to visit. Overall, the pens acted as a bridge for students to say "thank you" after their event, and opened the door to conversation for teenagers often too shy to start one with an adult. We are incredibly proud of this small token and love to hand them out to promote our program at GCHS.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Students in AICE Travel and Tourism must create and host an event/ tourist activity in the Naples area. With the pens, students will be able to network and connect with local businesses that they approach.

What will be done with my students

AICE Travel and Tourism students will be able to hand out the pens as they approach and connect with local businesses. Pens will have the school website on it as well as the title of the class. Teenagers are often nervous to approach adults and speak about business, so the pens will offer a bridge for students to start a conversation about their idea and ask for the assistance that they need

Benefits to my students

As a student without a business card-- the pens provide a way for students to bridge a conversation. Students can create a lasting impression on the business for future classes and will set themselves apart by providing a working token of their appreciation for helping with their project. This is the first year at Gulf Coast for AICE Travel and Tourism; with the addition of the pens as a token of appreciation for their support, students will help to build the program and foster new relationships within the community.

Budget Narrative

The budget will go solely to pay for the pens and pen design. To earn the discounted rate, we will be purchasing 250 pens in bulk and the printing company will screen print the AICE Travel and Tourism Logo.
