Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 18

I am a firm believer in positive reinforcement. I use Class Dojo to reward participation, walking quietly in line, transitioning quickly, working hard, and so much more. While some kids love classroom experiences, many love the prizes. All the goodies I was able to purchase thanks to the grant have been a huge incentive for students to do their best & earn Dojo points so they can buy more prizes. They look forward to Fun Friday each week when they can choose what to "buy" with their points. I truly appreciate how this reward system helps the classroom dynamic!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To motivate students to reach their goals in math & reading; to encourage students to follow classroom guidelines and to help others; and to practice Leader in Me skills on a daily basis both in the classroom and throughout the school.  

 

What will be done with my students

Students earn Dojo points for participation, completing iReady, reading new math & reading goals, good behavior and helping others. Each week, these points are traded in for various levels of classroom experiences and/or prizes.  

 

Benefits to my students

When students are rewarded for their efforts, they feel their hard work is appreciated. This encourages students to feel better about themselves and the work they complete. In doing so, we create students that work together to help one another reach goals. Also, when students are rewarded for good classroom behavior, there are less interruptions and more learning.

This includes all of my students favorite (non-experience) prizes including tax. This will be enough for the entire year!
