Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 1923

Our drama program has been blessed to utilize our new technology in several areas. While the main impact of this technology has been on our 80 students who are either enrolled in a theatre course or part of the drama club, students who were able to attend our spring events were able to see shows that incorporated QLabs.

First, our students in theatre 1-3 worked in groups to learn how to create audio cues in Qlabs and run a show using the technology. Each group created a workspace centered around creating audio plots for locations that might appear in the play. One of our student groups chose to create a presentation on sound design to present at our World Theatre Day celebration where 9th and 10th grade students travelled with their English classes to learn more about theatre practices. This was a great opportunity to support our ELA curriculum and allowed our theatre students to practice leadership and speaking skills while giving students studying the works of Shakespeare a look into what happens behind the scenes of a play. In addition, Our extracurricular drama club was able to use QLabs to support their spring performance of The Velveteen Rabbit which they performed at three local elementary schools before their final performance at the high school.

Access to QLabs will continue to support our drama program at IHS. Next year we will be able to run both light and sound control through QLabs and continue to train our students on this industry standard. We are so grateful to Champions for Learning and Lipman Family Farms for supporting our students and the arts.
