Category

Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.

What will be done with my students

Our students will be utilizing creatively prepared breakout boxes to complete interactive investigations that will increase their depth of knowledge and improve their performance on high-stakes exams. Students will compete to be the first to answer all questions correctly and open the final lock box. In doing so, students are practicing and reviewing benchmarks being tested on state assessments.

Benefits to my students

This methodology will increase student engagement in an exciting and friendly competition designed around opening lock boxes using content knowledge. The pressure of competition to apply curricular topics to open locks on the boxes assists students in practicing for timed events, such as a state test. Students learn to access knowledge quickly and with confidence in a unique method outside of the normal classroom format.

Budget Narrative

Each kit will include a classroom set of large boxes to house the materials and to act as a locked box for students to “break in” using content knowledge. The smaller box allows for insertion of an additional lock containing another clue or activity for student engagement. The locks are necessary to secure the boxes. The invisible ink pen is used to write clues that students solve to complete the puzzle and open the lock. The blacklight flashlight allows students to see the invisible ink to determine the solution. The latch is required to house multiple locks.
